Dr. J Berlingieri JBN Medical Diagnostic Services Inc Pounds for Health, Medical Weight Management Clinic and Research Centre in Burlington is managed by Dr. Joseph Berlingieri, Internal Medicine and Critical Care specialist, whose focus is on cardiovascular care, addressing the needs of the large diabetic and heart/stroke patient population.  In the last two years, recognizing the impact of obesity on cardiovascular risk factors and the growing numbers of patients that are obese, Dr. Berlingieri established a specialized clinic, concentrating on these patients in particular. Pounds for Health Medical Weight Management Clinic and Research Centre is dedicated to improving health by decreasing the cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes and improving the knowledge base of obese patients to enable them to implement strategies to deal with their obesity.  Pounds for Health (P4H) Clinic is part of JBN Medical Diagnostic Services Inc, a recognized research centre in national and international clinical trials. Pounds for Health (P4H) is not a weight loss clinic.  Aiming for a healthy weight and recognition of the genetic influences and environmental factors determining weight is a necessary aspect of the P4H mandate.  Lifestyle changes alone are not effective in sustaining weight loss in the majority of the patients.  Medical and surgical interventions are often necessary. Patients are screened and treated according to the individual profiles.  All patients are offered counseling, education, including dietary plans and exercise regimens.  Almost all patients have to combine these changes with medical and surgical interventions.  At P4H we recognize the need for psychological counseling and self empowerment as an integral part of the process to recovery.
